Plymouth University, which celebrates its 150th anniversary in 2012, is one
of the UK’s most prominent and dynamic universities with an educational
history dating back to 1862. Plymouth University is ranked 47th in The
Guardian League Table 2012 and has consistently been ranked as one of
the top three modern universities. Plymouth has 7 faculties, with about
3,000 staff and over 30,000 students.
Plymouth University has recently been awarded the Queen’s Anniversary
Prize for Higher and Further Education in recognition of its world-class
marine and maritime research, teaching and training. This is a highly
prestigious prize, which is granted biennially to universities and colleges
that demonstrate work of a world-class standard of excellence.
